Skye Cervone, Ph.D.

Welcome! I am an Instructor of English at Florida Atlantic University where I recently earned my Ph.D. in Comparative Studies. I have taught courses at FAU in composition, short fiction, drama, creative nonfiction, Animal Studies, Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature, and literary theory, and I currently serve on the FAU Writing Program's AI Task Force. While my M.A. work focused on the Fantasy literature of Lord Dunsany, my dissertation, “Living Capital: Situating Animals within Capitalist Modes of Production in Science Fiction,” looks at capitalism's relationship to animals in Science Fiction. I served as the Public Information Officer for the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts (IAFA) from 2016-2023, and I also served as the IAFA Student Caucus Representative from 2014-2016.
