Skye Cervone, Ph.D.

Welcome! I am an Instructor of English at Florida Atlantic University where I recently earned my Ph.D. in Comparative Studies. I have taught courses at FAU in composition, short fiction, drama, creative nonfiction, Animal Studies, Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature, and literary theory. I currently serve on the FAU Writing Program's AI Task Force. I have also taught courses in composition, introductory literature, business writing, and Fantastic literature at Broward College. While my M.A. work focused on the Fantasy literature of Lord Dunsany, my dissertation, “Living Capital: Situating Animals within Capitalist Modes of Production in Science Fiction,” looks at capitalism's relationship to animals in Science Fiction. I served as the Public Information Officer for the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts (IAFA) from 2016-2023, and I also served as the IAFA Student Caucus Representative from 2014-2016.
